N900 does not detect WiFi

i have a N900 and I got to know it doesn't detect wifi signals. Even in my house, all is detects of the Fido GPRS. What could be the problem?

I have tried to connect to a network with WPA security enabled, I have had to reboot my phone (the first time) for it to connect. Without details about what kind of wireless network you have, and what settings you have for your network,
Is the phone's wifi enabled?

Does your network have a hidden SSID?

Does it have security enabled?

Do you have "discover networks" enabled?
