contract mobile phones

If you have a mobile phone on contract what happens to the phone if you dont pay your monthly bills?

all my friend has signed up for a 24 month contract with orange, she has had the phone for 4 months now and has had nothink but trubbile with it (not the phone itself) Her bills are always coming in way over the amount it should and she dose not use it that much for the bills to be coming in the amount they are.

I has rang orange a number of time and has complained but got no where with them so she has decided this month not to pay the bill as there taking the piss she said. As she love the phone itself so much she was wondering what would happen if she never payed the bill? She was thinking of buy a pay as you sim and putting that in but she was wondering would orange turn the phone off completley so she could not use it or is it just the sim they turn off and they phone itself would work find with a differerent sim in .

Answer:

Orange place a special chip inside all of their phones. If you do not pay the bill for 3 consecutive months then they activate the chip, causing the phone temperature to increase until all the internal components melt. You can tell if it has happened as the screen will appear slightly blurred.

Initially they'd chase her for the missing payment, then assuming she continued to refuse to pay, they'd cut off her contract (no outgoing calls) and then they'd disable the handset itself.

She'd also be in breach of a consumer credit agreement and Orange will pursue her for the outstanding monies (even if she doesn't use the phone, she'll still have a monthly charge) and the worst case scenario is that the debt is passed to a debt collection agency and she ends up with a county court judgment against her, which could affect her credit rating.

try another attempt at sorting out the problem with Orange customer services, if she's unhappy with their response to her issues, she can escalate the problem up the chain to management, that usually works.Share This Post on Twitter Just Click Tweet Button
